Matthew DiPietro is a Designer at RYA. He earned his Bachelor of Architecture from Virginia Tech, where his passion for architecture grew from a lifelong fascination with building and the physical environment. From a young age, Matthew’s curiosity about design was sparked by trips with his father to the city, where he marveled at the skyline and its relationship to the surrounding landscape.
Deeply influenced by artists like Richard Serra and Donald Judd, as well as the Land Art movement, Matthew has a particular focus on how space is shaped by both human and natural forces. He embraces the full architecture process, from design and construction to the experience of inhabiting a space. Matthew spent a semester at the Steger Center in Riva San Vitale, Switzerland, where he further developed his design philosophy. At RYA, Matthew contributes to a range of projects, integrating his interest in materiality, spatial experience, and the interaction between built form and the natural world.
