Brooklyn, NY

One of the firm’s first Brooklyn projects, this gut renovation of a Carroll Gardens townhouse focused on designing a space to accommodate the needs of the client, a film editor and his family. The design transformed the previously closed off space into a home that felt more like a loft, with few doors, large windows, and points of connection across floors. The architecture and interiors strategy incorporated cinematic and narrative inspiration from books and movies to connect to the owner’s professional background. Originally published in The New York Times, this home was one of many design projects completed with this client, who trusted Young with a mix of private residential and commercial projects.
